1st Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards to take place in Dubai

The first ever Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards (MIFTA) is scheduled to take place on December 17 in Dubai. MIFTA is the brainchild of actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar who believes that its high time Marathi cinema should also be getting its due.
Some of the recent Marathi films such as Shwaas, Dombivili Fast, Harishchandrachi Factory, and Lalbaug Parel etc have been appreciated by people not just in Maharashtra but all over India and hence its rather apt that the people associated with Marathi cinema also get due recognition through such a platform.
Popular Marathi stars such as Atul Kulkarni, Nana Patekar, Sachin Khedekar, Vikram Gokhale among others are expected to attend the MIFTA function in Dubai. However the highlight would be the presence of Amitabh Bachchan who is to be honoured at this gala event.
